What is your name?
What is your dream role? Why?
Lucille Frank in Parade! I find her strength inspiring, and her arc is challenging to portray. I feel her story is just as important as Leo's!
What is the MOST special of all of your special skills?
My ability to sight read and harmonize has helped me get ahead more times than I can count, for which I have my college professors to thank! And it makes callbacks much easier (haha).
What was your first big performance opportunity? Tell us about it.
I was blessed with the opportunity to perform in the ensemble of Evita with Eden Espinosa as Eva Peron. Seeing first hand the work ethic a Broadway veteran has helped me understand what it takes to be true collaborator and smart actor. It was also a blessing to perform at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Every moment on that stage felt like a dream!
What is your go-to audition outfit? Why?
I love a pair of tight black pants with a peplum top and black heels! It shows off my figure, makes me feel confident, and proves I know my type (which is the furthest thing from an ingenue -haha).
What role are you completely inappropriate for that you perform superbly in your shower and car?
I'm probably crossing a line, but I DESTROY some Dreamgirls. Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson are everything.
Favorite dance shoe?
*sigh* My Laducas. I converted last year and will NEVER go back.
Do you have any sort of ritual before an audition?
I press my entire body weight into a wall. I picture the energy flowing through my hands. It helps me center myself and get rid of nervous energy.
Where did you train in theatre? How has that affected you?
I received my BFA in musical theatre from Belmont University. I owe everything to that program! I saw first hand what a supportive yet competitive environment can do. My teachers and classmates pushed me everyday to be the best version of myself both on and offstage.
Parade. There's just SO MUCH and it is SO RELEVANT! The music is gorgeous, and it makes me feel all the things.
Favorite straight play?
The Elephant Man. It highlights the evil we are capable of as humans while also telling an amazing story of compassion and growth.
The Pact by Jodi Picoult. So many tears.
Do you have any performers that you admire or look up to? Why?
Ben Crawford! I had the opportunity to work with him in Evita. He is one of the nicest, funniest people I've met. He's also insanely talented! I admire his work ethic and down to earth nature. (Go see him as Mr. Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!)
Who is your favorite non-theatre music artist?
I'm biased but my best friend Benjamin Poss. His songs speak truth everyone needs to hear. Check him out!
What keeps you sane offstage?
Spending time with my family and friends. They keep me grounded (by constantly making fun of me -haha).
Worst thing about auditioning?
The waiting. Hands down.
